Editing your pages
How to change the words, pictures and pages of your live Site, and what goes live as soon as you save.
Where to edit
In your Site’s menu, open "Pages" (in the "Content" group). It appears once your Site is live. Before that, there is nothing to edit yet.
The page lists "Main pages", usually Home, About and Contact, which are always on, and "Your pages", the extra pages you add yourself. "Site-wide settings" holds the things every page shares: colours, fonts, logo and similar.
Change a main page
Click a main page’s title. You see its sections, such as a banner, a list of services or opening hours. Change the text in the boxes, and use "Move up" and "Move down" to reorder sections, "Remove" to take one off the page, and "Add" to bring one back from "Add a section".
Some sections show a hint instead of a box. For example, a section that shows your services list tells you to edit that list on the About page.
Click "Save". Your changes go live on your Site as soon as you save.
The banner’s Overlay darkness
On most designs, the home page banner can use the "Dimmed image band" layout: your photo with a dark layer over it and your text on top. The banner section then has an "Overlay darkness" slider, from 0% to 90% in steps of 5. It is 85% until you change it.
A darker layer keeps your text easy to read. If you set it low, the editor warns that text over a bright photo may be hard to read. It is only a warning: check the banner in the live preview and choose what works with your photo.
Pictures
Where a section has a picture, choose a file from your computer. It must be a JPEG, PNG or WebP. The page shows the maximum size next to the field, which is 5 MB, and tells you if your file is too big.
Save the page to put the new picture on your Site.
The live preview
Next to the editor (or behind the "Preview site" button on a small screen) is the "Live preview". It shows your Site with the edits you have made, even before you save.
You can switch the view between Desktop, Tablet and Mobile, or leave it on Auto. A section also has a button to preview that section alone, and another to show all sections again.
Saving and discarding
While you have changes that are not saved, the page says "Unsaved changes". If you try to leave, it asks first.
Click "Discard changes" to throw away everything you changed since your last save. Saved content is not affected.
Add your own pages
Click "New page", give it a title and click "Create draft". On the next screen you choose its sections. The page stays private until you publish it. Once the page exists, its address cannot be changed.
A draft is not visible to visitors. "Save" keeps your edits private. "Publish" makes the page live. Once it is published, saving updates the live page immediately. "Unpublish" turns it back into a draft.
You can show a page in your Site’s menu and choose its position there. Lower numbers appear first. "Delete page" removes it for good, and visitors then get a not-found page.
Your plan limits how many of your own pages you can have: 3 on Starter, 10 on Plus, and no limit on Pro. The page shows how many you have used. At the limit, "New page" is disabled and you can upgrade your plan. Some sections are only on certain plans; one that your plan does not offer is shown as locked.
Legal pages
At the top of the Pages screen you see "Legal pages: N of M created". Click "Legal pages" to create your privacy policy, terms and similar pages. Each is generated from your Site’s settings as a draft for you to review and publish. They are a starting point, not legal advice, and they do not count towards your page limit.
Early access sign-ups
Before you launch, you can collect sign-ups from people who want to hear when you open. In your Site’s menu, open "Newsletter", then "Sign-up form and pop-up", and find "Early access". Every plan has it. Each person confirms by email and joins your newsletter list.
Under "Show early access", choose "As a section on my pages" to show a sign-up box on the pages you choose. Then open "Pages" and add the "Early access sign-up" section from "Add a section" where you want it. Nothing is added for you.
Or choose "As my whole site (a coming-soon page)": every page shows only your coming-soon page until you switch it off. Your legal pages and the links in confirmation emails keep working. You need a published privacy policy first, because visitors give you their email address (see Legal pages above).
You write the heading, text, button label, up to 5 things people get, and an optional launch date once, and both choices use them. Click "Save early access". On the launch date we email you a reminder to switch the coming-soon page off. Nothing switches off by itself.
While the coming-soon page is on, "Preview my real site" opens your real Site past it for 4 hours. Anyone with that link can do the same until it expires, so keep it to yourself. "End all previews" closes every preview at once. If your design does not support early access yet, the page says so.
Writing help from Heminbot
Heminbot, our writing helper, can write the text of a section for you. Some sections have a "Generate with AI" button. It takes a moment, and you can always write the text yourself instead. Nothing goes live until you save.
While you set up your Site, this is free: until your Site is first published on its own domain, for up to 25 AI actions per Site. After that, each use is paid from your Site’s monthly AI allowance (Plus and Pro include one), then from AI credits you buy. You are told if there is nothing left, and an attempt that fails is never charged.
