Connecting your own domain
How to point a domain you own at your Site, including what to do if it is registered at Cloudflare.
Connect your domain
On your Site's Domain page, enter your domain and click Add domain. We show you two nameservers.
At the company where you registered the domain (your registrar), replace the domain's nameservers with those two. This can take a few minutes to a few hours.
Back on the Domain page, click Check status. Once the nameservers are confirmed we finish the setup and your Site goes live on your domain.
If your domain is registered at Cloudflare
Cloudflare doesn't allow a domain registered with Cloudflare to use nameservers from a different Cloudflare account, and our setup lives in ours. So the usual steps cannot work for these domains. Nothing is wrong with your domain, and your Site keeps working at its etweb.dev address in the meantime. You have two options.
Option A: we arrange the transfer. On the Domain page choose "Ask us to arrange the transfer", or contact us. The domain moves into our Cloudflare account, it stays yours, and we renew it and bill you at cost. Your steps:
1. Turn DNSSEC off for the domain.
2. Cancel any add-ons on the domain.
3. In Cloudflare, open the domain, then Manage domain, then Configuration, and choose to transfer it to another Cloudflare account.
4. Paste the account ID we send you.
Timing: the domain must be at least 10 days old to transfer, and after a transfer it is locked for 30 days before it can move again.
Option B: move it to a regular registrar first. Cloudflare typically blocks transfers out for about 60 days. When it is at another registrar, follow the steps above to connect it. Your Site stays at its etweb.dev address until then.
We have not verified Cloudflare's current screen names. If one above does not match what you see, look for the closest option, or contact us.
If you have not bought the domain yet
Buy it from a regular registrar such as Namecheap, Porkbun or GoDaddy, not from Cloudflare. Then follow the steps in "Connect your domain".
